Narrative Drama
Written by: Retired Sgt. Brendon O. Smith & Cedric Hill
Three men return from combat
but none of them are survivors.
Acceptable Losses tells the story of three soldiers' struggle adjusting to society. Underneath,
the film deals with emotions that we all share: fear, abandonment and
isolation. Acceptable Losses allows the audience to absorb the reality
of the aftermath of war without experiencing it themselves. The film begs the question,
what are we willing to lose to achieve a goal? All of the characters
in the film lose a part of themselves and subsequently
so do the people around them. Our story deals with the loss that cannot
be calculated. The themes in Acceptable Losses are universal, while being a story of Veterans told by a Veteran. Acceptable Losses
explores the silent suffering that eats away at the inner peace many soldiers
seek. This is the Deer Hunter for a new time, a new war and a new audience.
